Culturally and linguistically diverse children in picturebooks and classroom practice
Join this event to hear Rhoda Myra Garces-Bacsal discuss how the use of diverse picturebooks in our classrooms can help promote inclusive and decolonising education.
In this seminar, Rhoda will discuss the continued rise of migration, immigration, and remigration and the way it has transformed classrooms into spaces for intercultural connections among children with multiple, hybrid, intersecting identities.
She will talk about the critical sharing of diverse picturebooks and its effectiveness in helping teachers navigate cultural prejudices and stereotyping, while also providing spaces for decolonial teacher education.
This event will be particularly useful for researchers, school principals and teachers, students and teacher educators.
