Book launch - Comparative Education: A Field in Discussion
Join this event to hear David Turner launch his new book, followed by responses from Qing Gu and Tejendra Pherali and a wider discussion.
In this event, David will briefly introduce the book, and outline some of the main themes, most importantly that we each see the world through the filter of our own culture/language, and that, in any classification, intragroup variation is much greater than intergroup variation. This is of particular importance when grouping people according to their nationality, language or religion.
Following the themes set out by David, Qing Gu and Tejendra will respond before a wider discussion.
This event will be particularly useful for those interested in philosophy of education, international education and comparative education.
PESGB seminar series
This event is part of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB) seminar series. PESGB is a learned society that promotes the study, teaching and application of philosophy of education. Its London Branch hosts seminars every Wednesday in conjunction with the Centre for Philosophy of Education. These seminars are led by national and international scholars in the field, covering a wide range of issues of educational and philosophical concern.
All are welcome to attend.
