In this webinar, Dr Tinghe Jin and Meng Liu will discuss how their peer reviewing experiences have equipped them well in writing journal manuscripts, and how they have applied the knowledge of peer reviewing in their academic writings.

Academic writing and publishing for doctoral students

A practical webinar series on the academic writing skills for international postgraduate research (PGR) students.

The aim of this series is to offer relevant trainings on academic writing and publishing to PGR students, to increase awareness of academic writing resources for doctoral students, as well as to collect student feedbacks on their experiences of using these resources.

About the Speakers

Dr Tinghe Jin

Lecturer in Education at School of Education and Lifelong Learning at UEA

Tinghe completed her PhD as a Centenary Scholar at UCL Institute of Education. 

She then became an Assistant Professor in research at Durham University with the British Academy postdoctoral fellowship award. 

Tinghe’s research specialises in intercultural education concerning identity perceptions of students and teachers. Her research also links intercultural perspectives with pedagogy development and teachers’ professional development. 

She has been awarded by the British Academy’s Humanities and Social Sciences. She is also the founding president of the Chinese Educational Research Association in the UK and has co-edited books and journal special issues addressing issues and developments in Chinese educational research.

Meng Liu

PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge

Meng’s research interest is at the intersection of applied linguistics and educational psychology. 

She is currently the chief editor of Cambridge Educational Research e-Journal, a student-led peer-reviewed journal. Meng’s recent publications are in the Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development and Journal of Child and Family Studies. She has also reviewed for journals such as the Language Learning Journal.
