The past year has led to continual speculation, challenge and debate about the role of assessment in education and how student achievement is conceptualised.

Globally, policy makers, educators and researchers in education have had to review and reconsider many aspects of assessment from the revision of entire national testing systems through to educating teachers to collate and grade classroom-based work as evidence of their students' achievements.

This has revealed the complexity of educational assessment and has brought an unprecedented level of public debate relating to how we view and characterise student success, learning and qualifications.

This webinar will reflect on the past whilst looking to the future and consider some of the key issues and challenges that might lie ahead.

This event will be particularly useful for those interested in assessment, testing and examinations.

This seminar launches the UCL Institute of Education's newest learning and research group: The Educational Assessment Group at IOE (EAG@IOE).

Speakers

  • Professor Gordon Stobart, Emeritus Professor of Education, UCL Institute of Education (IOE) and Honorary Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Educational Assessment (OUCEA)
  • Professor Christine Harrison, Professor of Education, Kings College London
  • Dr Tina Isaacs, Honorary Associate Professor of Educational Assessment, IOE.

The EAG@IOE
