Two speakers from the nonpartisan American ‘fact tank’ the Pew Research Centre discuss whether recently published research into whether public conceptions around the growth of unauthorised migration is borne out by the figures. The talk will be followed with Q&A from the audience.

Based in Washington, DC, the Pew Research Center provides information on social issues, public opinion, and demographic trends shaping the United States and the world.

Dr Phillip Connor

Senior Researcher at Pew Research Center

Dr Phillip Connor is an expert on international migration, immigrant integration and immigrant religion in the United States, Canada and Europe. He prepares reports on immigration and religion, consults with demographic and public opinion researchers at the Center on migration aspects of their work, and analyses data. He has published books and several academic articles in leading migration and religion journals. His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and the Economist.

Jeffrey Passel

Senior Demographer at Pew Research Center

Jeffrey Passel is an expert on immigration to the United States and the demography of racial and ethnic groups. He has authored numerous studies on immigrant populations, including the unauthorised immigrant population, in America.
