Art & Design Across the Primary Curriculum
This half-day course aims to improve your knowledge and understanding related to planning in order to create meaningful links between Art & Design projects and other areas of the curriculum.

You will explore ideas for planning cross-curricular Art & Design projects as well as learning strategies to help the teaching of practical design skills.
Who this course is for
This course is suitable for all class teachers including newly qualified teachers (NQTs) as well as curriculum leaders and art coordinators. The course is aimed at those responsible for planning the Art & Design curriculum in primary schools.
Course content
The course will comprise the following:
- planning for cross-curricular Art & Design projects with a particular focus on history and geography
- making links to the D&T curriculum
- learning out of the classroom in museums & galleries.
Learning outcomes
By completing the course you will learn how to:
- plan effective Art & Design lessons
- make meaningful cross-curricular links
- enable all pupils to achieve success
- consider the resources available in museums and galleries.
Course structure
The course will comprise a lecture and presentation together with practical art and design activities.
Entry requirements and prerequisites
There are no formal entry requirements for this course but it is assumed that you will be working as a class teacher in a primary school.
Certificates
You will receive a certificate of attendance for completing the course.
