Educational technologies and applications (apps) have become increasingly popular in schools and at home to support young children’s learning in maths.

However, there are also concerns surrounding the impact of digital technology use and screen time in childhood. It also currently remains unclear which technologies and apps most effectively support maths learning outcomes, how they work, who they work for best, and under what circumstances they are most effectively used.

Our research focuses on:

  • How do children, parents, and teachers use maths apps and educational technologies?
  • How do these technologies shape learning?
  • What makes a good educational technology or app to improve educational outcomes?
