CEL facilitator recruitment

Thinking about becoming a facilitator with the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership and your local delivery partner?

  • Are you passionate about developing teachers to be the best they can be?
  • Do you have a drive that is infectious?
  • Do you want to have a lasting impact on pupils, teachers and leaders?
  • If so, we have an opportunity for you.

Our delivery partners, in partnership with the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership and IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society– the world’s leading school of education – is recruiting facilitators to support the delivery of its Early Career Framework (ECF) and National Professional Qualification (NPQ) programmes.

The opportunity

We are searching for enthusiastic, experienced leaders of people to facilitate professional learning for teachers at the start of their careers, and for school staff wanting to develop their leadership capacities.

You will be an established teacher or leader, have a deep desire to support other people’s development, and be ready to inspire excellence in and beyond the classroom. You will also be curious about how supporting other people’s learning can enhance your own practice, and the success of your school.

You will use your expertise to contextualise learning locally, reflecting the needs of pupils, teachers and leaders in your area to ensure maximum local engagement with, and impact from, the ECF and NPQ programmes.

You will also be excited about being an ambassador for the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership, the only higher education national Lead Provider for the ECF and NPQ programmes. You will have an affinity to our values and approach to teacher and leadership development, seeing professional learning as transformational to educators’ practice and pupils’ outcomes.

You will need the support of your leadership team to undertake this role alongside your other professional responsibilities. As well as the expert development you will receive, your school will also be paid for your time. We want to develop schools through the people who know them best.

What are we looking for?

Whether you have extensive experience of leading professional learning for school staff or have dipped your toe in and want to expand your skills and knowledge, we would like to hear from you. Our excellent facilitator induction and development programme will support you to shine in the role regardless of your starting point, allowing you not just to excel with ECF and NPQ participants, but enabling you to deliver the highest quality professional learning in your own setting and to develop new skills.

We are looking for established practitioners with experience in the following areas:

  • you have experience of mentoring teachers and/or leaders
  • you have experience of supporting teachers and/or leaders to develop
  • you have an understanding of online and face-to-face facilitation
  • you have some understanding of either the Early Career Framework (ECF) or the National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) content and purpose, and are willing to develop this knowledge further
  • you are supported by your school’s leadership team to undertake this role outside of your current school responsibilities
  • you have experience of working outside your own school and/or in partnership with other schools
  • you are excited about being challenged in your own practice while developing the practice of others
  • you are willing to act as an ambassador for UCL Centre for Educational Leadership, embracing our aims and values.

Do you need more experience?

If you think you need some more experience to be able to excel at facilitating professional learning, there is still a role for you. We will match aspiring facilitators with experienced colleagues to provide the development you will need to become an expert facilitator of professional learning.

About you

You will know schools. You may be working in a school, or work with schools in an allied role. We are open-minded about the experience you may bring and will ask you to explain your connection to schools and professional learning when you apply.

Developing teachers and leaders to be their best is a hugely fulfilling role, professionally and personally. Think about the colleagues who have helped you to become a successful practitioner; now it is time for you to support colleagues in your local area to fulfil their potential and provide excellent teaching and learning to every pupil they meet.

We also want to ensure that our facilitators embody the range of experiences and knowledge in today’s vibrant education sector, and who represent the contemporary pupil population. We actively encourage applicants who can bring diversity of thought and experience to the facilitation of our programmes.
