Matching values and goals
When we teach Physical Education (P.E.), our key focus is to develop students’ understanding of the importance of regular physical activity and a healthy diet throughout their lives. Additionally, we aim to demonstrate how P.E. supports crucial life skills, such as problem-solving, collaboration, and respect for others, while fostering physically active, inclusive classrooms that are highly motivated and engaged.
Therefore, it is essential to place our student teachers in school environments with matching values and goals. A visit to Wembley Primary School affirmed how the school supports all pupils in understanding the mental, social, and life-changing benefits of physical activity. Most importantly, the school equips pupils with the skills to seek their own pathways and inspires them to ‘have a go.’
Learning from experienced teachers
The Deputy Head and P.E. subject leader act as conduits for progress, delivering an inspiring curriculum and supporting staff to make a tangible difference. They actively engage with parents and the local community to provide pupils with new opportunities. Consequently, our student teachers are at the forefront of new developments in physical education. Therefore, course content is continually reviewed in terms of inclusivity, best practice, and shared values.
After visiting the school, our student teachers frequently express admiration for the school’s vision and inclusive culture, feeling empowered to carry these values forward into their own teaching careers.
I really enjoyed my time at Wembley Primary School; my school mentor showed what a great relationship he has with pupils in all years and a great clear progression of skills over the different year groups.
