GIFT-Surg releases animation for World Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) Awareness Day

Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome, or TTTS, is a rare but life-threatening condition that can affect twins which share a placenta during pregnancy. The placenta plays an important role in supplying blood and oxygen to the babies before birth, but sometimes an imbalance can develop which affects the development of both twins.

GIFT-Surg is a collaborative research project supported by a range of universities, hospitals and institutions - including researchers from WEISS and across UCL and UCLH. It brings together world-leading surgeons, engineers, clinicians and chemists from top universities and hospitals to tackle the development of safe and minimally invasive tools and therapies for the unborn child.
