Cognitive symptoms, or ‘brain fog’, are highly prevalent for women in menopause transition. Many report that they fear early-onset dementia and that it can impact upon their ability to work and function, with one in ten women permanently leaving work due to the symptoms of menopause.
CST-Meno is a brief, group treatment to manage the cognitive symptoms of menopause and improve general wellbeing. It consists of four, two-hour online group sessions; which focus on education around menopause and the brain; learning cognitive strategies (e.g. focused attention), applying Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques to manage the symptoms and peer support. We are currently testing CST-Meno in a feasibility trial of 40 women, aiming to test its effectiveness and cost effectiveness in the future.
