CST Provision

We are conducting a cultural adaptation of group Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) for older adults with mild-to-moderate dementia at the Dementia Care Unit, 175 Military Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. The adaptation follows the FMAP framework and integrates input from local caregivers, patients, and clinical experts. A culturally adapted pilot version has been delivered in 3 separate sessions with small groups to assess feasibility, language suitability, and acceptability. The full 14-session CST programme is currently being refined and will be implemented in a broader clinical setting as part of our next phase.

CST Research Projects

We are undertaking a research project to culturally adapt CST using the FMAP framework, with the aim of evaluating its feasibility and applicability in dementia care settings in Vietnam. Three pilot sessions have been conducted with different participant groups, collecting feedback from patients, caregivers, and professionals. The project also includes qualitative interviews to inform further adaptation. In the next phase, we plan to implement the full version of CST and evaluate preliminary clinical outcomes as part of a local feasibility study and future dissemination efforts.

CST Publications

We are currently preparing a manuscript reporting the results of our pilot phase and the FMAP-guided adaptation process, as part of a Master’s thesis at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. Once approved by the academic committee, preliminary findings will be presented at national scientific conferences and prepared for submission to international peer-reviewed journals. We also aim to publish both qualitative and quantitative findings from future phases of CST implementation in Vietnam.
