Health Research Seed Funding Call

The Health Humanities Centre has a small fund to support health-related research. This is an opportunity to apply for up to £2K for seed funding. External partnerships, interdisciplinary collaboration and opportunities for matched funding or in-kind support are encouraged.

The call is open to all academic staff, with the exception of honorary or visiting lecturers and post-graduate teaching assistants.

The Principal Investigator must be based in A&H. Applicants must have must have a UCL contract that extends to at least 31 March 2026.

 Applicants are required to submit a proposal outlining:

  • The objectives, hoped for outcomes and potential impact of the project
  • Collaborators
  • Cost breakdown
  • Timeline

 Successful applicants agree to produce a written record of their activities, including images, if possible, so that this can be used for website dissemination, and to give a presentation in the Health Humanities Seminars.

 Applications will be reviewed by a panel.

Examples of activities the funding could be used for include (but are not limited to): speakers for events, conferences or workshops; collaborating with an artist or theatre maker; running a small research project with student researchers; paying students to undertake tasks relating to an event or conference (at the relevant standard UCL rates). Please note: funds cannot be used for staff buyout, attending conferences or to purchase equipment or books.

All funds must be used by the end of March 2026.
