IAS Welcomes Professor Dipesh Chakrabarty as Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow

The IAS is thrilled to announce that its second Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow will be Professor Dipesh Chakrabarty, who will be joining us for the month of March 2018. During his visit, Professor Chakrabarty will be giving a Public Lecture on 6 March entitled 'Planetary Crises and the Difficulty of Being Modern' and two seminars on 'Humanities in the Age of Humans' in the following weeks. Professor Dipesh Chakrabarty is the Lawrence A. Kimpton Distinguished Service Professor of History and South Asian Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago where he is also a fellow of the Chicago Center for Contemporary Theory and the Faculty Director of the University of Chicago Center in Delhi. He is the author of several books and articles including Provincializing Europe: Postcolonial Thought and Historical Difference (2000; 2008) and "The Climate of History: Four Theses" (2009).
