IAS Announces First PKU Visiting Research Fellows

3 August 2017

UCL IAS 8 Resized

The Institute of Advanced Studies is delighted to announce that the first cohort of Peking University/UCL IAS Visiting Research Fellows will arrive at UCL in the Autumn Term.  Over the next year, we will welcome Professor Jianli Chen (School of Archaeology and Museology), Dr Yan Jia (School of Arts), Dr Ling Qin (School of Archaeology and Museology) and Professor Yidan Wang (Persian Section, School of Foreign Languages) from PKU.  They will be working with colleagues at the Institute of Archaeology and the Department of History on shared projects, and developing relationships which already exist between the two institutions as well as creating new ones.

This reciprocal Visiting Research Fellowship scheme is helping to cement the ongoing ties between PKU and UCL, and the IAS is honoured to be at the forefront of this burgeoning collaboration.  We are also very grateful to the UCL Global Engagement Office for their funding contribution to this scheme in 2017/18 and in the coming years.

Details about the scheme for UCL academics to visit PKU will follow soon. These will invite UCL based academics to explore existing and potential collaborations with colleagues at PKU for a period of one to three months.

This is the first cohort of a three-year scheme (in the first instance).  A call for applications for the next academic year (2018/19) will go out in the spring of 2018.
