When a stressed student, a moonlighting cleaner and an ambitious professor become trapped inside, a farcical chain of events unfolds that leads inexorably to the question: what is the point of sustainable products if people are dispensable?

Rehearsed reading supported by the Adopt A Playwright Award and UCL IAS.

Nicola Baldwin was UCL IAS / Urban Lab Creative Fellow with ‘The City Dionysia’, a collaboration with Dr Pushpa Arabindoo on the joint IAS /Urban Lab theme of Waste.

WASTELAND was researched thanks to UCL Creative Fellowships, Prof. Stella Bruzzi, Nicola Miller, Jordan Rowe, Catherine Stokes, Lucy Stagg and Albert Brenchat-Aguilar. It was developed with Rebecca (‘Cranks’) Crankshaw, Shreya Patel, Jimena Larraguivel, Tara Kearney and supported by Andrew Broadley and MGCfutures. It was completed thanks to Sofie Mason, Diana Jervis-Read, Adopt A Playwright Award, Kenny Emson, the AAP Angels, Fiona Callaghan, Criterion Theatre, NT Studio and Barbican Theatre. 

UCL Alumna Nicola Baldwin is a playwright, scriptwriter & film maker. Her stage and audio plays have won the George Devine award, Time Out award, Partnering Patients and Citizens CSO Award from NHS England and shortlisted for Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and BBC Audio Awards. She is Co-Chair of the WGGB Audio Committee, an RLF Fellow, and currently under commission to National Theatre Connections.
