Overview
Opening with an editorial titled Vocalizations in the Midst, Dr Thieme, Professor Berg and Professor Fiddian-Qasmiyeh reflect on the challenges of writing “in dark times” while affirming the importance of scholarship as a space for care, solidarity, and resistance.
The issue features a special themed section, The Anti-Refugee Machine, guest-edited by Professor Tricia Redeker Hepner (Arizona State University) and Professor Magnus Treiber (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich). Taking inspiration from anthropologist James Ferguson’s landmark book The Anti-Politics Machine, the section explores how contemporary migration regimes operate to control, exclude, and profit from forced displacement.
The issue also includes reviews of recent publications on migration and mobility, reinforcing the journal’s role as a hub for global scholarship.
