Where does the word ‘loot’ come from? What is UCL’s connection to the history of zombies? And what is ‘democracy’? Described by Angela Saini as ‘a witty and accessible survey of the shortcomings of western civilisation as many people imagine it’, Uncivilised debunks some instituted truths while encouraging its readers to think critically about the kinds of common sense that keep us from imagining alternative ways of working, voting, creating, and living together.
Subhadra Das will be in conversation with Lara Choksey (UCL English). The conversation will be followed by a drinks reception, 6:30pm to be held in room G01, 66-72 Gower Street
