This book, which is part of the Routledge Research in Audiovisual Translation series, explores the intersections of education and technology in audiovisual translation and unpacks the evolution of professional ecosystems whilst looking ahead to future directions in the translation industry and higher education in light of new technologies. Audiovisual translation scholarship, which has traditionally focused on subtitling and revoicing practices (including media accessibility), has grown to encompass a wider range of practices and interests. Practices, Education and Technology in Audiovisual Translation takes stock of the latest scholarly works in these fields and then focuses on the current landscape of audiovisual translation education, where there is greater interest in distance education and new assessment practices. Last but not least, this book capitalises on the potential of industry-academia collaboration for the development of new technologies in the age of cloud computing.
At this launch event, author Alejandro Bolaños-García-Escribano (UCL Centre for Translation Studies) will introduce his first research monograph, and discuss its arguments with Jorge Díaz-Cintas (UCL Centre for Translation Studies), Elsa Huertas-Barros (School of Humanities, University of Westminster) and Kristijan Nikolić (Department of English, University of Zagreb). The event will be chaired by Rocío Baños (UCL Centre for Translation Studies).
