Speculative Worlds Research Collective

The UCL-based network Speculative Worlds Research Collective is excited to present 'Exploring Walking Practice for Researchers' led by walking artist/researcher Clare Qualmann.

  • When: 29 May 2024 from 11am to 3pm followed by a networking pub visit.
  • Where: Meet at Crossharbour DLR at the bottom of the platform steps.
  • What to bring: Walking shoes, umbrella, notebook, pen, camera/smartphone.

Tickets for the walk are limited; access to the event is by ticket only.

In this event, we will be traversing the urban landscape of the Isle of Dogs to explore being present in both time and space - and attending to the multi-sensorial landscape. We will take a meandering walk together, finishing at Newcastle Draw Docks.   We then move across the street to The Waterman's Arms E14 3BW for networking.   Nearest public transport for those only able to join us for the pub: Island Gardens DLR or Bus 135 at George Green's School Stop K.

PGRs, ECRs, and researchers with artistic practices are invited to participate in this walking workshop to explore skills in: collaborative and creative methods; enhancing data collection in collaboration with community groups or neighbourhoods; research in everyday urban environments; walking practice; creative fieldwork and pedagogies.

We look forward to walking with you!
