For Summer Lab 2024, we will be taking a walk. Inspired by the work of artists, activists, and researchers of walking as a method to ‘re-imagine the built and natural environment’ (InspiralLondon.com), this year we will be exploring the sensorial landscapes of Southeast London. The theme speculates on the potential of experiencing and re-imagining the world as otherwise when conceptualising the urban sensorial landscape in harmony with the other-than-human.
SWRC Summer Lab 2024 takes place over two days:
- June 19th: A keynote provocation followed by collaborative world-building and walk creation at Stave Hill Ecological Park. At the end of the day, we will commune and share dinner at a local venue in Rotherhithe. Dinner details will follow in a separate email.
- June 20th: Finish creating walk exhibition followed by a sharing of walk-worlds. We will then reflect on and discuss the process finishing with a chance to network and stimulate potential cross-collaborations.
This event is funded by the UCL Institute of Advanced Studies Octagon Small Grants Fund and the network is supported by the Doctoral School Network Activities Fund.
