It is clear that there is no unified and systematic concept of “supervisory power” in Roman law, but two key supervisory systems can be observed: the censor and the tribuni plebis. The former focuses on power restriction, while the latter focuses on moral supervision. These two models have been used for reference and developed in later generations, which has influenced the construction of modern supervisory systems.
