The panel aims to respond to some of the following questions and others:

What are the limits of free speech in UK universities? Are they different than limitations within political parties? How is debate over Israel/Palestine affecting academic freedom in the UK? Can trenchant criticism of Zionism or Palestinian rights be considered protected speech? Is pointing to racial or ethnic exclusion in Israel a violation of the parameters of the IHRA definition? Should organizations that advocate Israeli annexation of the West Bank be welcomed onto campus? What is the line between legal censorship and self-censorship? How has the law been deployed to narrow the horizons of robust debate around the Israel/Palestine question, and can it be used differently? To what extent has political Zionism challenged the legacy of Jewish contributions to the field of human rights law? Are advocates of international legal action to promote Palestinian rights pursuing an effective course of action?

All welcome. Please note that there may be photography and/or audio recording at some events and that admission is on a first come first served basis. Please follow this FAQ link for more information. All our events are free but you can support the IAS here.
