BHASHAILI (ADRIFT) (2024) - Feature length documentary,  accompanying music videos

Bhashaili or Adrift tells the story of Pakistani Bengalis living in Karachi, many of whom face issues around citizenship and Statelessness despite being in their fourth generation. We follow the everyday stories of young and old Pakistani Bengalis as they chase their dreams, find love, stand up for injustices, and face despair around their lack of recognition in Pakistan.

Educating and Organising for Social Justice (2019-present) – ACTION REPORTS

Since 2016, Stuart Tannock has run an undergraduate placement module at UCL, Educating and Organising for Social Justice, in which students learn about the theory and history of social justice education, and participate in a community organising campaign with Citizens UK, in partnership with primary and secondary schools across London. Each year, students produce an action research report based on the political education workshops they run in primary and secondary schools with children and youth:

Evidence gap map of nurturing care practices in neonatal intensive care units during the COVID-19  pandemic around the world  (2024)- INTERACTIVE TOOL

This interactive tool looks at how care practices for families and very sick babies were changed or adapted in hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide. The goal is to learn how to keep these important practices safe and effective during future crises.

Explaining the Body Mapping Tool for Children's Workshops  (2024) - FILM

In this short film, we share the basic principles of our "Body Mapping" tool co-created with the Nkwihoreze project young participants and facilitators. The tool helps explore topics of intergenerational transmission of trauma and resilience.

Letters for Palestinian Childhoods (2023, ongoing) – EXHIBIT

This online and in-person exhibition of letters, poems, and artwork aims to counter dehumanising narratives about Palestinians, showing solidarity by attending to the names, stories, experiences, dreams, and struggles of Palestinian children and the actions of the Western-backed Israeli state which are so violently shaping their lives.

Letters to the Prime minister (2023) – ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN 

These letters addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan have been written by Pakistani Bengali children and teenagers living in Karachi. The letters serve as a direct appeal to the government to take account of some of the challenges faced by these young people and their families linked to issues of citizenship and statelessness.

A National Observatory of Children’s Play Experiences During COVID-19 (2020-2022) – WEBSITE

The Play Observatory provides a curated collection of examples of play and expressive culture, providing insights into the experiences of children and young people at this unique time in history and informing future generations’ understandings of young people’s lives.

THE OTHERS (2024) - ANIMATION

The Others is an animated social commentary that depicts the impact of having one’s identity taken away. The animation explores issues of ‘othering’, citizenship, and statelessness faced by members of the Pakistani Bengali community living in Karachi.

Playing the Archive Playing the Archive: memory, community and mixed reality play (2017-2019) – WEBSITE

The website documents an ambitious programme of research and cultural production, exploring the nature of play by bringing together archives, spaces and technologies of play, along with people who play, both old and young.

Stories too big for a case file (2021, updated 2023) - FILM

This short film showcases the testimonies of young, unaccompanied refugees, asylum-seekers, and migrants and provides insights into the racialised borders that divide citizens from migrants and the borders that divide childhood from adulthood, considering their consequence for care, belonging, and life itself.
