This lecture will explore the contrasting ways policy makers in the West have linked the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to the challenge posed by violent strains of Islamist extremism. This was an issue that divided Tony Blair from much of his party when in office, and the contrasting world views that underpin this divide continue impact policy making in the Middle East. It is an issue that has on-going implications for Israel's relations with the Western world.

Dr. Toby Greene is a political analyst, writer and lecturer specialising in Israel, the Middle East and UK-Israel relations. 'Blair, Labour and Palestine; Conflicting Views on Middle East Peace After 9/11' is his first book, based on his PhD completed at UCL in 2011. He is the Director of Research for BICOM (Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre), the deputy editor of BICOM's Fathom Journal, and an adjunct lecturer at Tel Aviv University.
