Functional Materials and Energy Devices group (FMED)

The Functional Materials and Energy Devices group (FMED) led by Dr Mojtaba Abdi-Jalebi researches the discovery of novel energy materials and advanced energy devices based on low-temperature processable molecular semiconductors and hybrid organic-inorganic heterostructures between such organic semiconductors and inorganic semiconductors, such as metal halide perovskites, metal oxides and nanoparticles.

These functional materials are of growing interest for a range of emerging technological applications, including low-cost, large area photovoltaics, energy-efficient light-emitters, electrochemical devices and other energy applications and flexible electronics. Our research aims to discover and incorporate new inexpensive functional materials in energy devices to alter the energy landscape by reducing the cost of energy production, consumption, and storage.
