We bring industry experiences into the classroom
The Institute of Finance & Technology (IFT) is committed to providing its students with the “best of both worlds” - a solid and comprehensive foundation of key theories and concepts across digital finance, and the opportunity to test and apply this learning in the real world. As well as being taught by a team of Industrial Professors with extensive business know-how, students at IFT get exposure to industry voices in a number of formats.
Eureka Forum
In addition to theoretical programme-based learning, all IFT MSc students are invited to attend the Eureka Forum. This series is hosted by IFT Industrial Director, Paula Bergamaschi-Broyd, who brings her 30 years experience of capital markets and senior management positions at Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse and State Street to exclusive student-only sessions. Industry-centric topics include:
- Working in Finance today & Macro Trends
- Impact investing and Social Finance
- PE and VC, LBO and Private Debt
Conversations with Industry
IFT is also home to a series of Conversations with Industry experts. Hosted annually from January to April, these sessions demonstrate how industrial ecosystems in the capital and beyond are approaching the topics of finance and technology with innovation and creativity. These sessions are open to all and include an opportunity for audience Q&A and networking with industry speakers after the event.
Past speakers include Dan Cobley, Managing Partner of Blenheim Chalcot, Stella Smith, Founder and CEO of Pirkx, and John Langley, Head of Wells Fargo International.

Student Industrial Placements
Each year, the best performing students from our MSc programmes are offered the opportunity to win internships with leading banking and FinTech firms. Student hopefuls receive mentoring, interview practice and comprehensive feedback on their performance to support their growth and chances in the employment market. The project work that our successful students undertake on these internships forms the basis of their MSc theses, bringing together academia and industry as is IFT's mission. Furthermore, internships are usually offered on a "train to hire" basis - many students already leave their degree with a job offer.
Companies who have provided our students with industry internships in recent years include Wells Fargo, MDOTM, LSEG, Pirkx, NatWest, RIO.AI, Salary Finance and KOODOO.
