Why study at the IFT?

Finance is going through major changes due to disruptive innovations which have developed and accelerated the next era of technology-led financial services.

The view of industry is that universities have not kept pace with the continuous innovations taking place in the finance sector.

The UCL Institute of Finance and Technology (IFT) aims to train students capable of not just keeping up with these innovations, but setting the pace of future developments.

Addressing such concerns is being built into the IFT from the very start. In developing our first programme, the MSc Banking and Digital Finance, we have liaised with many industry and government professionals working for leading institutions, including:

  • BlackRock
  • HSBC
  • European Investment Bank
  • London Stock Exchange Group
  • KPMG
  • Bank of England
  • HM Treasury
  • The World Bank
  • International Monetary Fund

Initially offering graduate and executive programmes, our teaching will incorporate learning activities, research and industrial experiences designed to help develop commercial competencies.

Our first programme, Banking and Digital Finance MSc, begins in September 2019. Administratively the programme sits under the UCL Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (CEGE).
