DUR1DE
TableDETH Deaths of LS members
Short descriptionDuration of illness. Death of LS member (1993 onwards)
SourceDetails are as supplied by the Registration Service Software or BAD System fields (DUR_1 to DUR_5). The field allows for 5 occurrences of DUR to match up with the 5 occurrences of CODT on the Registration portion of the record. Where a CODT occurrence is
Code notes1993 onwards: Alphanumeric, Spaces The field may contain alphanumeric details, eg 3-4 . In instances where alpha durations such as `long standing', `sudden', `since birth' apply there is a need for truncation into the limit of 5 characters allowed for this field. This truncation gives a problem when details in this field are copied to ACCS (Automated Cause Coding System) for matching with the allowable durations within the ACCS System. Some information is therefore lost to ACCS processing. Because this field can contain numeric or alpha characters only, or a combination of alpha and numeric, no input code range can be defined. See ACCST field for information about ACCS. See DURACCS for information on durations returned by ACCS.
