| Code notes | 1993 onwards: See 1991 Census Appendix 13. This three-character numeric code is derived from PCDR, the postcode of usual residence, during the batch, rederivation or online postcoding process. It links the first two characters of WARDX on the OGSS Postcode file PNAACMyy, using UNAUT or CTYX (depending on LGR or two-tier area record), on the OGSS Local Authority file, PNAADMyy (where yy = year of file), to find the correct value. See OGSS documentation for details of code values. Area Change Programme: country of residence codes unchanged. See also new Country Indicator code (CTRYIR in range 1-4), requested by SAS for tabulating 1996+ data, to separately identify records for E, W, S and NI. Deaths repostcoding procedure amended to include field value CTRYR 'not present' in selection criteria. If CTRYR=064(E) or 220(W) or 727(E&W) or ' ', then select record for repostcoding. Effective from August 1994. Deaths repostcoding routine amended to ensure correct values for country field CTRYR returned by OGSS from 064(E) and 220(W) to 727(E&W). Effective from 11.11.94.
