Write On aims to engage adult groups with UCLs unique collection of archive, rare books and other special collections materials. A series of 3 creative writing workshops is being organised with input from external FE tutors and local community archivists and librarians.

Gill Furlong (Head of Special Collections), Susan Stead (Outreach and Cataloguing Librarian), and Anne Welsh (Lecturer in Library and Information Studies, and an experienced creative writing workshop leader) will introduce you to the life and times of the people or places featured in the selection of source materials, and then explore with them the differences between how words and images were created in the past and how they are created today.

Participants will spend each session exploring UCLs rich collection of archival material as a source for developing their own writing. Inspired by the items they come into contact with, they will create new work, perhaps an imaginary diary entry, short story or poem.

Each workshop uses different materials and considers a different aspect of the art of writing.

Because of limited space numbers are restricted for these free workshops, so please book early to be sure of a place.
