Research grants - Professor Elizabeth Shepherd

Professor Elizabeth Shepherd (DIS) has recently won two research grants to follow on from the highly successful ARHC-funded MIRRA research project (https://blogs.ucl.ac.uk/mirra/), a collaborative research project led by UCL with the Care Leaver’s Association and the charity Family Action, which found that the voices of the children and young people in social care were often entirely missing from their own records, causing significant distress and upset. A 12-month AHRC Follow On grant will allow the team (Dr Anna Sexton, Dr Elizabeth Lomas, Dr Andy Flinn) to work with a commercial software partner to embed our research recommendations into digital recordkeeping systems across the UK. A 3 year Australian Research Council Discovery Project grant, led by Dr Joanne Evans at Monash University, will enable Professor Shepherd to co-develop a participatory information governance framework for child social care drawing on cases from Australia and the UK, sharing our expertise internationally.
