Lecturer in Publishing, Director of the Centre for Publishing
I joined UCL as a Lecturer in Publishing in August 2021. Prior to that, I was a Lecturer in Digital Media and Publishing at the University of Stirling.
My research interests lie in the history of digital publishing and what it might tell us about contemporary challenges in the industry. My first book, Four Shades of Gray: The Amazon Kindle Platform will be published by MIT Press in March 2022. I am currently completing a second book, The Early Years of Project Gutenberg for Cambridge University Press’s Elements in Publishing and Book Culture.
I teach on the following courses on the Publishing MA: Publishing Contexts, and Authorship in Term 1; and Publishing Ethics, and Publishing Design in Term 2.
