Nick Canty

Nick Canty

I lecture on MA in Publishing where in lead on the Sales & Marketing and Academic & Journals modules. Prior to joining UCL I was a visiting lecturer at City, University of London where I taught on the business of publishing.

My background is in the publishing industry where I spent 15 years working as an editor and publisher for Pearson, Thomson Reuters and latterly at the publishing divisions of a professional society. I have set up and managed business units and launched new publishing ventures and worked across a wide variety of print and digital media.

My research interests include the interaction of social media and the publishing industry and in particular how the industry uses social media, the topic of my PhD. I have an interest in Bibliotherapy.

I was a Co-Investigator on the AHRC Academic Book of the Future research project led by my colleague Prof. Sam Rayner.

I am a member of the Association of Publishing Education (APE), the Association of Internet Researchers (AIR-L) and SHARP.

Term 1: Thursdays 13.00-14.00
