Wikidata and UCL Special Collections: Project Assistant post available

The main purpose of this post is to take the responsibility for the design and development of mechanisms for extracting, processing, publishing and integrating data from UCL's College Periodicals into Wikidata open graph database, as well as developing documentation that could be used to inform application of the developed mechanisms in other contexts. The post holder will undertake development at the forefront of digital humanities and is expected to have a background on Natural Language Processing, Named Entity Recognition, Semantic Web Technologies and Linked Data.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Formulate best practice for extracting data from the College Periodicals collection;
- Develop and document a mechanism for inputting extracted data on Wikidata (and Wikimedia platforms in general);
- Contribute to hands-on workshops organised by partner institutions;
- Evaluate the potential impact of publishing the data on Wikimedia UK platforms;
- Produce a report for UCL Special Collections summarising the project and recommending future actions for expanding outreach;
- Contribute to the development of open educational resources that can be utilised by partner organisations to expand outreach and collaboration networks between special collection holding institutions.
