Colloquium 2011

The 2011 Colloquium was another very successful event, greatly enjoyed by the staff and students who attended. The Colloquium, hosted by Prof Benny Chain, Divisional Postgraduate Tutor, is one of the few events that brings together staff and students from all institutions and organisations affiliated to the Division. This session, these include:

* the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR)

* Health Protection Agency (HPA)

* Unilever

The programme began with brief presentations by second year students, judged by Professor Mary Collins and Prof Benny Chain. Posters, judged by Dr Richard Milne, were displayed in the coffee area, where there were also exhibitions by the two companies sponsoring the event (BD Biosciences and Roche).

A highlight of the day was the keynote speech by Professor Amanda Fisher, of the CRB MRC Clinical Sciences Centre Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London.

The Colloquium finished with a drinks reception and prizes for best student presentation, and poster.

Prof Chain presented the following prizes:

BD BIOSCIENCES JOINT PRIZE FOR BEST PRESENTATION:

Ashleigh Howes, Division of Immunoregulation, NIMR

Dimitra Peppa, Immunology & Molecular Pathology

ROCHE POSTER PRIZE: Therese Matjeka, Immunology
