Date: 29th November 2022

Speaker: Professor Nocholaas R.J. Gascoigne, Immunology Translatioinal Research Programme, Cancer Translational Research Programme, and Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore)

Summary of the Speaker's work

Nicholas Gascoigne obtained his Ph.D. in Immunology from University College London, where his mentor was Prof. N.A. (Av) Mitchison. He then joined Mark Davis’ research team at Stanford University as a postdoc, contributing to early work on the genomic organization of the T cell receptor. His lab identified and characterized Themis, a protein that controls thymocyte positive selection through regulation of TCR signaling strength. His interests in T cell signaling, activation, and development, including signaling pathways in CAR-T cells and how they can be manipulated to improve CAR-T function in cancer immunotherapy.
