Dr Charlotte Scott of the Department of Biomedical Molecular Biology at the University of Ghent will be speaking at the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation Seminar Series on Thursday 07 February. The seminar will be held in Lecture Theatre 3 at the UCL Medical School Royal Free Campus.
Dr Scott is interested in the factors that define the tissue-specific identities of macrophages. Recently, she has shown that the transcription factor Zeb2, which was originally described as mediating epithelial to mesenchymal transition, also has a role in maintaining tissue-specific macrophages. Using a conditional knockout strategy to target five different macrophage populations, she showed that deletion of Zeb2 leads to the disappearance of macrophages from tissues and their subsequent replacement by circulating precursors.
All are welcome to attend. If you would like to meet the speaker after the seminar please contact the host.
