It was a real pleasure to attend the 1st International School on Advanced Immunology in Awaji Island, Osaka, Japan.

For all three of us, it was our first time in Japan, and we came away with a love for the fantastic food, beautiful scenery and impeccable timekeeping (German-Japanese cultural commonality!)

The school consisted of presentations from the participants, lectures from an internationally renowned faculty, networking, and poster presentations.

Subjects ranged from B cell germinal centre biology, Tregs, cancer immunology and immunology of COVID-19; there was something for everyone and showcased cutting-edge research from around the world.

We were very proud when our very own Nathalie Schmidt won a presentation award!

We finished with excursions to the shrines in Kyoto and the World Heritage Site at Nara. Thanks for such an enriching and unforgettable experience!
