IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE JEWISH HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF ENGLAND 


16th century Italy

This lecture will examine the antagonisms with the highest ranks of the Church vis-à-vis Jews and Judaism as reflected in the different positions of the Popes towards the Jewish community of Rome in the 16th century.

Dr. Piet van Boxel is emeritus Curator of Judaica at the Bodleian Library Oxford



Drinks served from 6.30pm followed by Lecture at 7.00pm


Venue: G46 (HO Schild Pharmacology lecture theatre), Medical Sciences building

University College London, Gower Street, London WC1E 6BT

Entrance is via Malet Place (opposite Waterstones, Torrington Place), straight ahead and under the arch, then turn left for Medical Sciences and follow the signs.


The conference has to be pre-booked,  a few seats are still available but you can just turn up at the free lecture.
