CINAHL

The authoritative source of information for the professional literature of nursing, allied health, biomedicine, and healthcare.

Cochrane Library

The Cochrane Library is a source of full-text information on the effects of interventions in health care. It is a key resource in evidence-based medicine

EMBASE 

Comprehensive pharmacological and biomedical database renowned for extensive indexing of drug information. Embase Classic is a historic edition of the database.

Emcare

Covering all nursing specialties and nursing healthcare professions Emcare includes international coverage and includes unique content not found in other nursing and allied health databases including more than a thousand journals not covered by Embase.

Global Health (and Global Health Archive)

Global Health is a specialist international public health database for academics, researchers, public health practitioners, NGOs, policy makers, clinicians, healthcare professionals and students. The Archive is a historic edition of the database.

Medline 

Index of journal articles from the National Library of Medicine. Covers medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. Includes EPub Ahead of Print citations

PsycINFO

Index of literature in psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines.

IOS Press journals Access for NHS staff has been made available as a licence extension to existing UCL subscriptions to a collection of 105 IOS Press journals, approximately 50% of which are biomedical. These include titles as diverse as: Advances in Neuroimmune Biology; Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation; Human Antibodies; The International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine; Journal of Parkinson's Disease; Pharmaceuticals Policy and Law; Physiotherapy Practice and Research. Currently only for Trusts that can provide IP access: Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, Royal National Orthopaedics Hospitals NHS Trust and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Other NHS resources
  • International HTA Database The database provides free access to bibliographic information about ongoing and published health technology assessments commissioned or undertaken by HTA organisations internationally. It replaces the HTA database, which was previously maintained by the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CRD), University of York, England.  The International HTA Database was launched in June 2020.

Resources available via the walk-in service

NHS library members can access the full range of licensed UCL Library Services electronic journals from dedicated computers (Explore Access Points) located within UCL libraries. Over 40,000 full-text electronic journal titles are available, a significant proportion of which are medical and healthcare related.

UCL's electronic books may also be accessed through the Explore Access Points. To see which ones are available search Explore, limit the search to Library catalogue and follow the SFX@UCL links.
