Many congratulations to UCL ICCS PhD student Ammara Yasin who has been awarded the Internet Society’s 2026 Early Career Fellowship.

Ammara was hand-picked as one of the only 15 change makers from around the world committed to making the Internet an open, globally connected, trustworthy, and safe resource.

The fellowship, consisting of a six-month program, offers unparalleled access to world-leading experts in Internet governance and technical infrastructure. As part of the programme, fellows will deepen their understanding of Internet governance, strengthen key leadership, advocacy, and communication skills, along with connecting with mentors and peers working in the Internet ecosystem.

Speaking on this opportunity, Ammara commented,

I'm thrilled to contribute to the Internet Society’s mission of keeping the Internet trustworthy and globally connected. Being selected as an Early Career Fellow is an incredible opportunity to work with global experts across borders, both geographical and disciplinary. Over the next six months, I’m looking forward to furthering my commitment to integrating engineering principles with policy frameworks, ensuring the Internet remains an open and secure resource for all.

Her supervisor and Deputy Director of UCL ICCS, Dr Anna Maria Mandalari added:

We’re all very proud of Ammara on receiving this recognition from the Internet Society. This is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of both her hard work and the importance of the work she is doing. The fellowship is a wonderful opportunity, and I’m sure she will make the most of it as she continues to contribute to conversations around the future of the Internet.

This award highlights UCL ICCS’ steadfast commitment to supporting the engineers of the future as they innovate and advance the future of a connected world.
