With regret, CISCO has taken the decision to conclude the CISCO International Internship Programme with the current intern class (2019/2020) being the final cohort.

Cisco continues to have several intern and full-time opportunities for students to consider, opportunities can be found on the Cisco Careers Website.

Come to this evening event where senior members of CISCO will join us from San Jose to introduce you to CISCO and the CISCO International Internship Program (CIIP), the evening will consist of a presentation from the team, followed by a networking reception where you can informally speak to the team and ask questions.

Who is CISCO?

What is the CISCO International Internship Program?

UCL Institute of Communications and Connected Systems is extremely proud to be able to bring this program to UCL as one of CISCO's chosen Universities to Participate in the CISCO International Internship Programm (CIIP). CIIP is open to Students of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and School of Management. Students must be in their penultimate year of undergraduate study (bachelors, or integrated masters), or studying for a postgraduate Masters (the program will require you to change your course to a year in industry programme). 

CIIP offers you a once-in-a-lifetime experience to cultivate your professional skills, expand your network, and nurture your passions.

Every year, the Cisco International Internship Program brings together exceptional students from all over the world to tackle real-life problems through hands-on technical experience.The Cisco International Internship Program (CIIP) is a once-in-a-lifetime year-long opportunity for high-performing students, from a variety of leading international universities, to experience working at Cisco’s headquarters, right in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Selected CIIP interns will acquire critical technical, business, and professional skills as they collaborate on impactful and exciting next-generation projects, all while networking with a global Cisco workforce.

Participating interns will return to their home countries, to complete their degrees, with an enriched appreciation of global business, cultural issues, and passion for their futures. CIIP aims to uniquely position interns to have greater success in their academic and subsequent professional careers.

About the Speaker

John Manville

SVP, IT – Global Infrastructure Services at CISCO

John Manville is Senior Vice President of Cisco IT Global Infrastructure Services (GIS); one of the largest organizations of its kind in the world.  In this role, John leads the strategy and operations for Cisco's cloud infrastructure and platform services, security, network services, collaboration and software platforms.  These systems provide the technology infrastructure services for Cisco's global workforce.

Since joining Cisco in 2007, Manville has played a key role in establishing Cisco IT as a trusted advisor to business partners, both internal and external to Cisco.  His primary focus is on addressing the business requirements of his customers while maintaining a balance of innovation and operational excellence.  John's team is also shaping the future of Cisco products by engaging actively and early in the engineering process, ultimately accelerating the delivery of quality solutions to customers.  Manville successfully led the transformation of Cisco's Data Center Strategy, and is now deploying Cisco's Global Cloud Strategy, which is significantly improving Cisco's resilience posture, time to capability and cost structure. 

Prior to Cisco, Manville held a variety of IT positions with some of Wall Street's most respected financial services companies.  With a career spanning North America and Europe, he began in the industry as a network engineer designing packet switching networks for global customers.

Manville holds an electrical and electronic engineering degree from University College London (UCL) and an executive master's degree in technology management from the University of Pennsylvania.  In 2018, John received the honor of being named an Honorary Fellow by UCL for his dedicated contribution to promoting the careers of future engineers from UCL by pioneering the Cisco International Internship Program – an exclusive program offered to a select group of universities worldwide.
