The IBN is a virtual community for UCL's behavioural neuroscientists. These are researchers interested in how low-level neural processes such as the actions of genes, proteins, neurons and neural circuits collectively translate to high-level processes such as behaviour, thinking, emotion and consciousness.

The aim of the IBN is to facilitate communication among these researchers with the provision of news, announcements and information.

Because of the inter-disciplinary nature of the field, behavioural neuroscientists can be located in any of a variety of university departments. At UCL, researchers working at the level of behavioural neuroscience are found in the following departments and institutes:

Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology
Department of Pharmacology
Department of Physiology
Division of Psychology and Language Sciences
Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit
Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience
Institute of Neurology
Institute of Ophthalmology
Wellcome Department of Imaging Neuroscience
Wolfson Institute for Biomedical Research
