The UCL Humanitarian Institute has delivered a range of impactful initiatives, including the world-leading Global Humanitarian Studies BSc, the Sustainable Development Goals evening seminar series, the UCL Humanitarian Summit, specialised masterclasses, and interdisciplinary research projects.
We continue to strengthen collaboration across UCL by bringing together academics and researchers working on humanitarian issues from diverse disciplinary perspectives.
Looking ahead, we are committed to advancing solutions to global challenges through impactful research and engagement, while promoting meaningful connections between academics, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.
Current Projects
Academic Publishing and Grant Writing Workshop for Early Career Scholars from the Global South working on the nexus between Peace and Conflict Studies and Humanitarian Studies (April 2025- March 2027)
This project, funded by the British Academy, aims to aims to strengthen the research capacities of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) from the Global South. The workshop will focus on enhancing participants' academic writing skills, publication strategies and grant application knowledge while providing publishing opportunities and strengthening international academic networks.

Intersectional Voices from Exile: Advancing Peacebuilding Through Women, Indigenous, and LGBTQ+ Leadership in the Colombian Diaspora, 2025-2026.
This project, funded by the UCL Global Engagement Fund, aims to examine the voices and agency of exiled people in transitional justice processes in Colombia. This pilot project will focus on two diaspora contexts: Ecuador, with indigenous and LGBTIQ+ Colombians living in exile, and the United Kingdom, particularly those in London, which is home to a large and politically active Colombian diaspora.
