Information regarding the procedure to follow when a colleague in service unfortunately dies.

Overview

Guidance on the process to follow when a colleague dies in service.  It explains the different roles and responsibilities of members of staff, so information is shared quickly and in an appropriate way.

Contents include

  • The notification process
  • Returning property to the next of kin
  • Additional support, e.g. through Occupational Health and Wellbeing, the Employee Assistance Programme, leaflets
  • Recruitment, if urgent cover is required
