Are you a UCL Early Career Research (ECR) staff member navigating your next career move? The Career Aspiration Programme (CAP) provides structured support, expert guidance, and practical tools to help you define your career goals, explore opportunities, and take control of your career development. Through an on-demand training course, career aspirations workshop and community coaching opportunities, this programme will equip you with the confidence and resources to progress your career within and beyond academia.

This structured and supportive programme includes:
| On-demand Career Planning Course | An on-demand course in which senior UCL Research and Academic staff provide motivation and inspiration through lived experiences designed to help ECRs clarify their career development goals. Availble to all early career staff engaged in research. Regardless of what stage they may be at, the course has something for everyone including how to thrive in your current research role to preparing for career next steps in a range of sectors. | |
| Career Aspirations Workshop | A highly interactive in-person workshop featuring expert speakers, reflection exercises, and practical tools to help ECRs define career success, identify their strengths, and develop an actionable career plan. The workshop is specifically designed for grade 7 and 8 staff who are engaged in research and navigating their career progression, having successfully passed their probation. Likely role titles include Associate Lecturer, Lecturer, Research Fellow, Senior Research Fellow, Clinical Research Fellow and Senior Clinical Research Fellow. We warmly encourage applications from colleagues with visible and non-visible disabilities, and we are committed to providing an accessible, supportive, and empowering environment throughout the programme. | Tues 25 Nov 25: Applications closed Thurs 5 Mar 26: Applications opening in January 26. |
| Community Coaching | Workshop participants will have the opportunity to join a community coaching cohort to put their development plan into action with support from an experienced coach. This opporutntiy will be offered to participants of the ECR CAP workshop who are motivated to advance their career development plan but struggle to find the time and headspace for career-enhancing actions. | Jan - Mar 26 Apr - Jun 26 |
