Updates have been made to UCL’s Prevention of Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy. This article provides an overview of the changes; how they were made; and, provides a link to the updated policy.
As part of UCL’s ongoing commitment to protecting staff and students from bullying, harassment and sexual misconduct and to ensure our compliance with the upcoming Office for Students (‘OfS’) new condition of registration, some updates have been made to our Prevention of Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy
A cross-institution working group was established to ensure UCL achieves compliance with Condition E6 and several subgroups were also created to work on different aspects of the condition. One of the sub-groups was tasked with reviewing existing UCL HR policies, including the Prevention of Bullying, Harassment and Sexual Misconduct Policy.
The new policy has been streamlined and the definitions have been reviewed in line with legislation and the Ofs. We have also reviewed the list of unacceptable behaviours and included as an appendix. The section on information sharing has been updated and the procedural aspects of the policy regarding interim measures and police investigations, have been integrated into the Disciplinary Procedure . The policy now also contains better signposting to support and clearer information on how to make a report.
More information will follow in the coming months on how UCL is ensuring compliance with all other aspects of the Ofs Condition of Registration
