Information on work in March 2025 to update the status of Honorary records in UCL’s HR System (MyHR)
We recently identified that anyone on the HR system (MyHR) who is set up with a staff categorisation that commences with HON required attention as the records were not being handled correctly by the system for HMRC purposes, resulting in some of these individuals being viewed by HMRC as employed by UCL, which is not the case. It is difficult for us to identify those affected and as a result we have had to undertake an exercise of resetting these records ahead of the start of the 2025/26 tax year.
The impact on these individuals should be minimal and anyone who has a current active association will retain the same status from 1 April 2025. They should not encounter any issues with any system access that they currently have or notice any difference. The key difference is that they will be issued with a P45 to ensure that any association that may be picked up incorrectly by HMRC for pay purposes is ended and the problem being encountered by some is resolved.
