Mandatory Training arrangements for UCL employees on joint appointments with UCLH or GOSH

6 March 2024

These arrangements were introduced to reduce the duplication of mandatory training for UCL employees on joint appointments with UCLH or GOSH.

Colleagues talking

Dear Colleagues,

A formal agreement is in place between UCL and UCLH, and UCL and GOSH. As a result of this collaboration, jointly appointed colleagues who successfully complete mandatory training at either UCLH or GOSH, will be granted exemption from undergoing similar training within the UCL mandatory training requirements.

The specific UCL mandatory training courses covered under this agreement are as follows:

  • Data Protection and Freedom of Information
  • Information Security Training
  • Prevent at UCL
  • Introduction to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Basic Fire Safety
  • Safety Induction

It is vital that clinicians always keep their mandatory training records up to date at UCLH and GOSH for this collaboration to work. UCLH and GOSH will send the data to UCL each month under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the organisations.

This collaboration signifies a significant step forward in streamlining training protocols for clinicians, ensuring efficiency and consistency in compliance measures across UCL and UCLH, and UCL and GOSH.

Please note: you may be required to undertake additional, in person safety or fire safety at your UCL location, as well as other mandatory modules not currently listed on the exemption list.

Should you require any further information or clarification regarding this agreement, please do not hesitate to reach out to Matthew Nolan (Head of Education Services, UCLH), Amanda Searle (Head of Learning & Development, GOSH), or Lisa Ede (Digital Learning Manager, UCL).

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to continued collaboration between UCL and UCLH, and UCL and GOSH. We will continue to liaise with other NHS Trusts to agree similar arrangements.
